Life Sayings: ANXIETY / WORRY
A lot of these life sayings really go to the heart of the human condition. Anxiety and worry is one of them.
If you spend your life worrying, you are misusing your mind.
You will probably start worrying about that now …
Your mind is a precious resource. You can use it to bring anything to your awareness.
You could, if you wanted, bring happiness and joy to your mind.
You could, if you wanted, bring love and truth to your mind.
You could, if you wanted, bring peace and serenity to your mind.
All of that is available. All of that is within your realm of experience.
But, no, you bring worry to your mind. You bring anxiety to your mind.
How it happens seems innocent enough. You will be feeling okay with yourself. Life will seem like it’s turning over well enough.
And it’s at that point that some part of you questions this. It says: “Yeah, sure, you feel fine, but what about those pangs you felt in your chest last night? And what about all that stuff you bought online? Just think, all of those sites have got your credit card details. Can you really trust that all of those sites are secure?”
And on and on it goes. As you become more and more trapped in the worst case scenario.
Heck, life can be so frightening at times that you don’t even want to get out of bed. You want to wrap that duvet around you and shut that nasty, horrible world out.
Until, that is, you remember that more people die in bed than anyplace else …
This is how absolutely insane us human beings are. That, somehow, we think that we can worry ourselves into happiness. That we can frighten ourselves into peace of mind.
Not only that, but we expend so much energy worrying about things that, in all probability, will never even happen.
And we make such a drama, such a fuss about people and events that we cannot even control.
That’s how creative and imaginative us human beings are.
That’s what sets us apart from the rest of the animal kingdom:
That we can conceive of things that don’t exist.
That we can invent all kinds of realities.
That we can look at the stars and we can invent machines that take us there. Or we can simply go there in our imagination and in our hearts …
And that’s the tragedy that lies at the heart of the human experience. That we conceive of things that we don’t want. That we invent realities that trap us and limit us and make our journey through life bleak and oppressive.
Delight in your wonderful mind. And use it to better effect. That is all.
